Beringia
Beringia is an ancient arctic land between Asia and North America. It is as enigmatic as Atlantis and as mysterious as Hyperborea. Though Beringia is quite real and accessible.
One can see this land on the contemporary sea charts of the Bering Strait region. If one day the sea level reduced about 100 meters, then the great territory of continental shelf would expose. And it would be Beringia.
Many years ago there was a terrestrial bridge between Eurasia and North America. This ancient continent included Chukotka and Alaska sea cast. Ancient elephants, horses, sabretoothed tigers moved on from one part on the world to another one. They looked for food and warmth. Some scientists still find irrefutable evidence for common flora and fauna on the both sides of the Bering Strait.
Different whales, white whales, walruses are the related populations. The Polar bears are the one family. A lot of bird species from Chukotka has connection with Alaska. The same fish is also on the both sides. Our flora is the unique combination of American and Asian species.
The nature-ethnic park “Beringia” was created on the territory of Chukotka in 1993. Its main goal is to keep nature heritage because Beringia is the crossroad of great migration routes. Almost every year park takes part in different research projects. Real travelers hurry every summer here in order to walk on the tracks of the ancient planet history.
