Duration: 10 days/9 nights in Chukotka
Group: guaranteed set departures, international groups of 6-8 pers.
Day 1: Arrive in Anadyr. City sightseeing tour by foot.
Day 2: Leave by the local flight to Egvekinot (1 h), a town on the shore of the Bay of the Cross (the Bering Sea, Pacific Ocean) surrounded by majestic mountains. Settle in and explore by foot the town. Visit the Local Lore museum to learn about Chukotka’s exploration, ethnography, geology, and GULAGs
Day 3: Full day trip into tundra by powerful quad bikes. Feel the drive and venture to the Junction of the Arctic Circle and 180th meridian, the line where the dates change. Take in spectacular tundra and majestic mountains. Return to Egvekinot.
Day 4-9: Leave Egvekinot and head off northwards, to Pevek, a town located o the shore of the Eastern-Siberian Sea (the Arctic Ocean). Our way lies along the unused dirt track of gold prospectors, we wade numerous wide rivers and deep rivulets, challenge the impressive mountain passes. The mountains reflecting in the still mirror-like surface of the lakes strike with the brightness of colors, the tundra amazes with abundance of wild-life. Our itinerary runs along the gorgeous valleys of the rivers that are teeming with fish, curious foxes come to the tent in the morning. Brown bears and polar wolves are also not rare to spot in these places . Little by little the mountains become lower, magnificent endless tundra stretches in all directions. The rare signs of civilization appear, these are closed settlements and the so-called “ghost settlements” – abandoned Soviet gold sites characteristic for the Russian North.
Day 10: Visit the Local Lore Museum. Depart Pevek by flight to Moscow and further home
